Top Eco-friendly Cars 2025 – In the first quarter of 2024, fleet and commercial registrations accounted for 62% of the market – an increase of 8% in just 12 months.

Top Eco-friendly Cars 2025
It is not surprising that sales of fleets are increasing: clean electric vehicles have proven very popular with company car drivers due to the low tax and non-financial benefits of these vehicles.
Best Electric Cars For 2024 And 2025, Tested
Although the 2024 Spring Budget did not give any indication of the government’s thinking beyond the next three years, we do know that the tax on electric company cars will be permanently weakened. In the new tax year (2024-25), the company’s tax on electric vehicles will be at 2%; in 2025-26 it will rise by 1% and in 2026-27 it will rise by another 1% to 4% and in 2027-28 by 1% to 5%.
If you’re not ready to go all-electric, a plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) still has lower emissions than efficient gasoline or diesel — including hybrids. For tax purposes, they are classified as low-energy vehicles if they emit less than 75 g/km of CO2.
Most new PHEVs can travel 40 miles on pure electricity. When the battery is empty, the gasoline engine will start charging the battery. Hybrid cars, on the other hand, do not provide pure electric range due to their limited battery capacity.
You can plug in a PHEV to charge at home and do all your short trips in electric-only mode. Many manufacturers offer a good range of PHEVs, and with each new generation we see more electric-only ranges. To achieve the best fuel consumption, the PHEV allows the use of only electricity as much as possible.
Toyota Camry: Everything That’s Changed For The New Generation
PHEVS with low CO2 emissions offer significant non-financial benefits. However, electric vehicles, with only a long electric range, are the best solution to keep the cost of compensation as low as possible.
For example, the new Toyota C-HR petrol plug-in hybrid has emissions of 19g/km and can travel up to 41 miles in pure electric mode. It falls under the fourth level of tax rate for CO2 emissions up to 50 g/km. By 2024/2025, it will be 8% compensation in kind. In contrast, the C-HR hybrid produces 105g/km in base form, making it 2024/2025. in 26%.
From 2025 to 2026, the price of low-emission cars will rise by 1% every year until 5 April 2028 (to a maximum of 21%), while the non-cash compensation for cars above 75g/km will rise by 1% from 2025 to 2026 and continue at this level until the end of the tax year 2027/28.
Company car taxes and choosing the right EV are important considerations for drivers who can lease a car through a salary sacrifice program.
Kia Ev3 Electric Car Revealed, Due In Australia Next Year
As the name suggests, salary sacrifice means that the employee “sacrifices” a portion of their gross salary to pay for the car. This reduces the amount of Income Tax or National Insurance 1 (NIC) on your salary – a significant saving that makes renting an electric car worth it.
However, since the tax authorities see the car as a benefit, non-monetary compensation tax is imposed on those who take the salary sacrifice. So choosing an EV or PHEV is important to make such schemes a real benefit for the driver.
Here are our picks for the best electric cars and PHEVs of 2024, and a couple to watch out for in the next 12 months or so. Income tax is calculated using our company car tax calculator using a 20% wage rate.
The new iX2 is an electric SUV related to the iX1, but with a sportier-looking profile. This is the first all-electric version of this popular model. Available in two- or four-wheel drive, the iX2 is more relaxed to drive than sporty. There is a family room for four people and stuff, as long as the youngsters are not too tall. The house has a good and modern design and features such as live video when parking. It charges at a 130kW fast charger to charge from 10 to 80% in 29 minutes.
Kia Sportage Hybrid Facelift (2024/25 Release): What We Expect
This amazing looking Peugeot SUV has two important features for company drivers with families. First, it has seven seats, the only electric SUV to offer such a feature. Second, the top-of-the-line model has a range of over 400 miles on a charge, so all you need is one extra stop on a family vacation. The third important feature is that it is battery-powered, so the company’s vehicle tax is low, which means more for the family. The car can be pre-ordered now, with delivery expected in September.
We have no excuses to add the Genesis GV60 to our favorites list for the second year in a row. Hyundai’s luxury arm, the Genesis brand, doesn’t arrive in the UK until 2022. The GV60 shares many features with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, such as a long range and impressive engineering. Speaking of technology, the GV60 is said to be the world’s first car with facial recognition technology, so you can scan it to unlock it. It also has fast charging.
There’s a new MINI on the block, the fourth generation built by BMW. It’s less retro and more hi-tech, with an animated screen the size of a dinner plate. All versions offer more options and lower prices than the previous version, although playing with a five-minute list of options will increase the price as usual. Like its predecessor, the electric MINI has three doors, but it’s designed as an electric-only vehicle, so it’s a bit shorter, offering more interior space than a regular petrol or diesel.
That’s a lot of money, but many people want the first electric Porsche Macan. The first version of the mid-size SUV was a huge success. The new EV Porsche can go very fast (up to 630hp) and if you’re feeling brave, its second car mode offers some driving on the street. The range is also very good, thanks to the large battery. Like the Taycan, it has 800-volt technology, so it can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 21 minutes with a fast charger.
Most Cost Effective Electric Vehicles
No one has driven the new Renault 5 e-Tech yet, but when it was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March, “ooh la la”! Retro but modern. You will recognize this face of social media if you are old enough to remember the original from the 70s. The range is very good for the estimated value – said to be under £25,000 – and is full of original touches such as the charging symbol in the shape of the number 5 on the bonnet. And then there’s the optional baguette holder (yes, really) , which might appeal to French buyers. If you want something worse, this year Alpine will release the A290, which is based on the 5 but with many changes. Due to strong demand in France, right-hand drive 5s and Alpines won’t go on sale in the UK until 2025. You can register your interest now.
Related to the Peugeot 408, the Citroën C5 X brings back the old name with a new twist. Far from boxy, it’s a great piece to drive, offering a comfortable and smooth interior, not a sport, thanks to Citroën’s Advanced Comfort Active Suspension. The PHEV version is by far the fastest, with a 178bhp petrol engine and a 109bhp electric motor. Like all C5 X models, it has an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Cupra is a new Spanish brand developed from SEAT. It focuses on performance and unique looks, but is based on the Volkswagen Group. If the Cupra is electric, the Formentor, which will be launched in 2021, is a clean fuel. It’s a mid-size car that has room for the whole family, but it’s smaller than an SUV. You will definitely stand out among the rest. There is a choice of four Formentor PHEVS with two engine power levels: 204 or 248 hp. Both have a 1.4-liter engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. The electric-only course of 38 miles is competitive.
The new Honda CR-V is a large family-sized SUV, available as a hybrid or, for the first time, a plug-in version. The 181 hp two-liter gasoline engine is paired with a 17.7 kWh front-wheel drive battery. Unusually, the automatic transmission has a red setting. There’s a big boot and standard power front seats. Leather is also standard, with heating and cooling in the upper compartment (available with PHEV only). A panoramic glass roof is also included in the standard equipment.
Don’t Judge This Solar Car Just By Its Size
Toyota brought hybrid technology to the world, and millions of Prius taxis can’t go wrong. This second generation CH-R adds a PHEV. In terms of size, it is a small SUV, but with the appearance of a coupe. All models have a reversing camera and security systems, such as a warning if you open the door in the path of a cyclist. Although it is mostly used in pure EVs, this Toyota PHEV has a heat pump, which is the most efficient way to heat the cabin.
